So we were talking about having one of Lovebug's friends come over. I suggested we invite his sister too, as she is a fan of both Hugmonkey and Ironflower. Lovebug exclaimed, "That means Lane* and I can play with the train alone!"
Ironflower promptly noted that Lovebug had rhymed. We're big on rhyming around here as it is the key pre-reading skill.
Soon the older two were coming up with more rhymes about Lane. I invited Hugmonkey to try one, as I haven't pushed him on rhyming as much as I pushed the other two. It's good thing I don't have more kids, if I got up to 5 I would probably forget to teach the youngest the alphabet. Anyway, I was curious to see if Hugmonkey could rhyme.
"Lane goes out in the rain!" he yelled gleefully. I praised him and invited him to come up with another. Perhaps he sensed that his siblings were dying for more turns, because he came up with this gem instead:
"Lane poops!" All three of them began to laugh hysterically. The older two did suggest some more rhymes, but they were all with 'poop'. Of course.
I'm still not sure what Hugmonkey understands about rhyming, but he sure seems to understand timing.
*Lane is not the kid's actual name, but it works with the rhyming section of the story. So I guess his blog name is now Lane. I hope that if he ever reads this, he appreciates that I didn't use Blaine. I know the Blaine on Glee is nice (and so cute!), but for me Blaine will always be Andrew McCarthy in Pretty in Pink. And Blaine was a douchebag. She should have chosen Duckie.

poop? is funny!
It's funny the first time - not 27 times. Trust me.
I'm so over the poop jokes. But I always appreciate good comic timing.
You are right; she should have chosen Duckie.
I love that you are rhyming with the kids. My kids also enjoy rhyming games. And poop jokes. And all other forms of toilet humor.
And I agree with the name Blaine... I would've picked Duckie.
Oh how I love the Duckman. And a good poop joke. The first time around anyway.
