When I fantasize about winning the lottery (which is probably more often than is mentally healthy, but better than putting vodka in my water bottle, right?), one of the things I fantasize about is doing cool things with my blog. I mean, it's not the first thing. I'm not that obsessed. I imagine debt payment, home remodeling and gifts first. But eventually, my mind goes to the blog.
As I discovered quickly when I started this whole staying at home with kids thing, I am not supermom. I have to have something for me. Even if it is writing about staying home with my kids. Anyway, the blogging morphed into writing for a content farm for $$, product reviews for free stuff and money, and putting ads on my site. . .for money. So my first lottery winner/blogger act would be to quit all that stuff.
THEN I would hire a website guru to make my blog all pretty and personalized. Because it was all I could do to set up the blog in the first place. Now I've actually managed to change the theme so that people could find that damn comments (that's why you all haven't been commenting much, right? It's not that half of you are Russians who got here by accident like my stats say. . .right? Right?) but I am still not satisfied.
I do own Wordpress for Dummies. It's just that I've never opened it. I am not technologically gifted. I still don't know how to make a comment and then retweet something on Twitter. So , you know, messing with the code on my blog. . . . .
*shudder*
But I'm really not feeling the purple, either. Just like I didn't feel the 4 other themes I tried today. So I'm looking for suggestions, advice or opinions. Or just random thoughts you're having, so I'll at least know that you can find the comments now.
Thanks.

Anneli - Thanks. I wish I knew how to throw in a few contrast colors, but I'm glad it's easier to find the comments now!
I was wondering about the comment thing to. I like the new layout. The content of your blog is what draws me to it not the bells and whistles by the way.
I actually like your blog site. I like the colors and I also like how the entries are straight forward. I'm not a technically inclined person either so the simpler the better for me. Content is way more important and yours is just fine. :)
Ugh. JerseyGirl! I'm working on my own redesign right now and your blog (the way it was dammit!) was one of the ones that I said "cool like that!" I loved the bold graphic header that had somewhat of a design-y feel rather than the overly feminine or mommyized whimsy, cartoony versions of the blogs that are out there. I'm not hating, but when you ask what kind of look of blogs that I like it's more bold than this. Functionality is important yes, content is really paramount, and looks count only a little bit. If you're asking, I'm telling...change back!!! Go bolder!

Ah Jen - I love you. Thank you. BTW, do you actually know what you're doing? Can I email you for help if I do something horrible to my blog?
I wish I knew what I was doing. Basically, just stumbling around in the dark and banging my toe every once in a while. However, I'm happy to be a sounding board and partner for working this out together. For the record, I like the green wood, the hotel tags and all the innuendo that goes along with it. :)
I don't know what I am doing on my own blog site either! I couldn't even get it set up, Sire helped me w/ that! and I can't even get logged into Lunar pages properly!! and now they want me to pay up for the next two years and I don't think I can….so am wondering what to do w/ it now….!
Silken - I had to go with one that already had Wordpress, otherwise I still wouldn't be done!
