Juicy Stuff on Craigslist

I don't usually get shocked while checking Craigslist. Since I'm always looking for toys and not, you know, sex and massage, the entries I read are invariably tame. After this week's success of acquiring one of those turtle sandboxes -

which the former owner was even kind enough to deliver, but who knew that hauling around a 50 pound bag of sand to the back yard would be so much harder than hauling a 35 pound child? I think I need to start lifting weights again -

- I thought I'd keep trying my luck. Which hasn't quite run out, because even though I didn't find any cheap kid stuff I did see this ad:

http://newjersey.craigslist.org/bab/1269202116.html

The title said something about pacifiers costing $31. I clicked it to see what typo filled, grammatically strained kind of ad would be saying something so ridiculous. But the ad is fine. It's the pacifiers that are the problem.

Apparently while I've been scouring Craigslist and shopping at Wal-Mart, someone has been making DESIGNER PACIFIERS. Now, I'm not unacquainted with expensive children's things. I know someone who has a Bugaboo stroller. Sometimes I go to Nordstrom's. I get quality, I do. But JUICY COUTURE PACIFIERS that retail for $48? Really?

For those of you who haven't bought pacifiers recently, the last pair I bought cost $4.99. But for nearly ten times that, ChunkyMonkey could spit plastic nipples that say "Juicy" into the dirt. Why? I mean, I think for that much money they should at least say "Chanel".

Have I been living under a rock, or is this weird?

Think of it this way. From a cosmetic surgeon plastic nipples would cost much more.

Well, that's just ridiculous! People are nuts.

I'd love to know what makes them worth that much. It should come with a gold chain to attach to your child, because losing that would.......suck.

Holy crap! The way I lose those things I would be out of a lot of money very quickly!
