Craptastic

I got nothin'.

My neck and shoulder are feeling much better (though I managed to pull something in my lower back while sleeping in a position that worked for my neck) so my reason for not posting is. . . .I have nothing to say.

Well, that's not exactly true. I could say a lot of things, but none of them are going to make a good decent post. But after waiting for inspiration for a couple days, I've decided to aim low and just write a damn post about the crap I have to say.

Yesterday Lovebug and I had to get gas while on our way to his speech assessment. The man in the car next to me sat with his mouth open for the entire ten minutes. And for some reason it drove me crazy. I couldn't stop staring at him, waiting for him to close his mouth. I mean, I have such terrible allergies that it's rare that I can do all of my breathing through my nose and yet I don't walk around with my mouth open all the time. But this guy kept his mouth open the whole time I stared at him. He looked like a dead fish. For some reason I can't get the whole episode out of my head.

The speech assessment was fine. To my surprise, Lovebug followed directions and behaved perfectly the whole time. I haven't gotten the official report yet, but the therapist said that his language skills were great but his articulation was immature. So he's on the waiting list for speech therapy. And I have to take all the stoppers out of his sippy cups, because the therapist said that his constant sucking on them (child never sucked his thumb or took a pacifier, but damn he loves his sippy cups) was contributing to the problem. Look forward to many posts about all the juice stains from the stopper-less sippy cups.

Ironflower went to a classmate's birthday party on Saturday. It was held at a gymnastics center and she had a great time. But the cutest thing was that she felt so bad that Lovebug couldn't go with her. I assured her that he would have fun with his grandparents and that when he started school there would be times that he would go to parties and she wouldn't. But I was touched by how sweet she was about it.

I want a minivan. I never thought in a million years that I would ever drive a minivan, let alone want to do so. But I do. Very much. Anyone have recommendations?

I always said I would never drive a minivan...that I would use a shoehorn to get the kids in the backseat of my sporty car first.
Then, the inevitable....we got a minivan...and you know what? I LOVE it with great big hearts. It is convenient, easy and very comfy.
We have a Chrysler Town and Country. I would recommend it. Power sliding doors and hatch, heated, power seats, everything power....it's wonderful. And the kids can get in and out of the car by themselves and even push the button to shut the door.

Good luck on your hunt!

I say I'll never get a minivan, but I'm sure I will at some point. I agree with Val. The Town & Country and the Grand Caravan are ver similar and nice - the new ones also look much less mini-van-ish.

Seriously? You want one? Never. I still say never.

And, I think my son and Lovebug might be the same way, as my pediatrician seems to think he's lispy and not getting the vocalization quite right. I just had to remove the stoppers from the sippys....FYI, be prepared for major spills.

I can't stand it when people sit around with their mouths open either. Drives me crazy!

I never wanted a minivan. Still don't, really. But with three kids in carseats I didn't have too many options.
I will say that the space is awesome!!! We have stow and go seating (a must!) and leave one of the captains chairs down (but it unfold easily if we bring an extra person along) so that we can easily get Tommy and Ben in the back bench and into their carseats. Joey is in the other captain's chair so he can get out easy for school.
Also, I never thought the automatic door opener for the two back side doors was important (who is so lazy they can't open the flipping door?) but I can't live without it! Especially when I was carrying a baby in a carseat and holding a 4 year old and 2 year olds' hand across a parking lot. A lifesaver!!!!
So those are my two things.
1- Stow and go seating
2- Automatic door openers

I'm sorry your back hurts! That's odd that the man sat there with his mouth open. The oddest things bother me, too. I definitely would have stared at him.

My son Ben was in Speech Therapy for ages and it did wonders for him.

*hugs*

Love you lots.

I'm glad you checked in. I was getting a little worried!

I am totally with you on the minivan. I never thought I would want them but I find them extremely convenient and would love have one. I figure that they were built for the purposes of driving small kids around which means they have a lot of great features that other cars (or SUVs) don't have. I have been eyeing the Honda Odyssey and have even made a few attempts to purchase one without success. So that is the minivan I would buy.

I hope you feel better soon.

I like my minivan. Just make sure you get the automatic sliding doors on BOTH sides. Only one of mine opens with a button and I HATE that. I need TWO buttons for TWO doors. I should not have to open doors manually. Geeze. Also, DVD player. Obviously. And the brand new Dodge Grand Caravan has that awesome table that pops up in the back and I sooooo want that. Unfortunately I have chosen to buy groceries for my family rather than drive around in a super cool minivan.

As much as i thought we'd never have one we do too. But it's an older Dodge Caravan . With gas being what it is we drive our smaller cars when we can and reserve the van for when my stepdaughters are over and all 6 of us are travelling together
