I swear to God this blog is going to get more cheerful soon.
But probably not today.
Yesterday, I was driving Ironflower and Lovebug to my parents' house to spend the night so that I could go see Hot Guy in a play reading. I was all set to drop them off and then drive to the train station so I could go into the city - where I haven't been for ages - when BAM.
And then there was another BAM.
I was rear-ended. It felt like she had her foot on the gas pedal, she hit us so hard. Twice. (though she claims her brakes went out).
Anyway, the kids began crying. I began hyperventilating while telling them that everything was okay. My head hurt. The kids said their heads hurt. I called my mom to meet us while the other driver called the police (at my insistence).
The cop called the ambulance.
By the time the EMTs were checking the kids out, they were fine. Enjoying the attention, even. I was a wreck.
My mom took the kids with her and I went to the ER to have the baby checked out. I called Hubby from the ambulance and convinced him that he couldn't leave the play (which has no understudies) when everything was probably fine.
I was in the hallway of the ER for three and a half hours. Meanwhile my neck began to hurt. A lot. I was also shaking. A nice woman - wife and of the guy parked behind me in the hallway - got me a blanket and talked me through my first crying spell. Her name was Sylvia. i wish I could send her flowers.
Finally they put me in a "minor treatment" room. They sent me to the ultrasound suite eventually. The tech - who had been called in - was SO nice. Baby was fine. But she seemed worried about me and got me some juice and warm blankets. I guess not eating or drinking for ten hours had gotten to me.
Hubby came soon after I got back to "my" room. That's when I really cried.
My neck was x-rayed, but apparently it's just a strain. Which hurts. We left the hospital around 11:30pm, with instructions that I am on bedrest until I see my OB.
See you all in a few days.

Holy Crap, Mama! I'm so sorry. Let me guess- the driver was on a cell phone?

Take good care of yourself!
That's so scary! Especially since the kids were in the car with you. I'm glad everyone is mostly alright and hope your neck feels better soon!
Oh geez!! You poor thing! Rest up and keep us updated. I'm sure everything is fine but LISTEN to the docs and chill out till you get the green light. Whiplash hurts like hell anyway and you will be thankful for the rest.
yikes, take the dr. advice and REST
Oh no!!!! I can't believe it! I am glad that you are okay and hope that you don't have any lasting affects. Was the car totalled?
Oh, sweetie. I was in a wreck with SD at 32 weeks. I know how scary it is. I'm sure it'll be okay. More scaring the living shit out of you than anything else I bet. Did the ultrasound show any body parts??:}
Just take care of yourself. Holy Moly! What a scare.
Ouch. :-( Sorry it happened, but I'm glad you're ok. Get some rest-now's the perfect opportunity to get other people to do things for you. :)
How scary! Glad you and the kids are okay. Get some rest!
I am so glad you and baby are OK. How scary for you. Sending very gentle hugs.
I am glad that you and the baby and those cute kids of yours are all OK. PLEASE promise me you'll take it easy?! I will call you for a grocery list.
Very bad news!! I'm glad it wasn't worse. Feel better ASAP!
Good grief! You've had quite a rough go lately! Hang in there and get lots of rest!!! Give your hubby and kiddos hugs from me and you can have one for yourself too! :)
I was read ended when I was pregnant and I know that even a minor car accident is very, very scary when you've got a little one along for the ride. I'm glad you are all (relativly) ok. Be extra kind to yourself for a little while.
Aah man that sucks, but I'm happy you're all ok!
oh jerseygirl! so sorry all this stress is happening to you right now!! glad to hear that all is ok. hope you get the rest you need!
Oh, you've had such a time of it! I hope you get some rest and that Mother's Day is the beginning of the best part of pregnancy!
Oh my god! Jersey, I hope you are doing all right! So, so scary...I feel for you. I know this uber awkard cause we're only internet friends and all, but it you need anything (seriously) I'm not so far away. Even just a nice shipment of some trashy magazines. Ugh...well I hope you have a happy, relaxing, restful mother's day!
Oh no! I hope you feel better soon and I am soooo glad it was only a minor accident and no one was hurt badly. Hugs and kisses and feel good wishes!!!
Thank god for Sylvia. I started to shake just reading this post...I can only imagine how scary it must have been for you and the kids.
