My closest book is "The 2,000 Best Games and Activities" because sometimes I do get off the computer and play with my children. And then sometimes I get bored. Er, that's another post. Anyway, on page 123 the fifth, sixth and seventh sentences say:
" You can create a surprise for your toddler by putting safe things out that can be handled in places where they would not ordinarily be found (Ed. note - I did not pick this book for its great writing). Interesting options include a deck of cards, a wallet, jewelery, brightly colored adult socks, a music box, a cup with cereal. Extension: Add safe items to drawers and toy boxes and help your toddler discover them."
Does anyone else think this "game" is lame and obvious? And that giving jewelery to a toddler is not generally a good idea?
I am going to tag people, but those people (and anyone else reading this) have an option. You can do the traditional literary meme OR you can share an idea for amusing Lovebug (preferably an idea that is much better than the one in my book). You can also leave your suggestions in the comments section, because Lovebug is getting pretty bored while Ironflower is at school and it is still effing freezing outside.
I officially tag (because if you read this blog you should consider yourself unofficially tagged):

You are clever!
the game sounds very lame. total agreement!
Hmmm...my favorite games are "Let's see who can be the quietest," "Don't wake mommy" and "Rub mommy's back."
Seriously, though, my kids love any kind of memory game. I've printed out capital/lowercase letters to match (this works well with little ones if they have a corresponding picture that is the same on both), shapes, colors, etc.
Also, we play charades all the time. Even the just-turned-3 year old can act out a cow or a ballerina.
And nothing beats parades with rice-in-a-oatmeal-container shakers.
Thanks for the tag. I'll try to get to it next week.
WorkerMommy - How about magnetized beads? I bet those would be even more fun.
Jill - That's my favorite!
HRH - Excellent ideas - why didn't I think of those?
susiej - Thank you!
AFF - I love agreement. :)
jenni - Ooh, I might have to try that "rub mommy's back" game tomorrow.
LunaNik - See - this is why I put this out there. To get brilliant ideas like that.
Julia always like Scavenger Hunts. Something as simple as, "Find something blue." or "Bring me something squishy." It'd keep her busy for a while. As she got older, I could give her a list of things to find.
I don't know. My brain is kind of mushy today.
